Dr. Heather McLeod obtained her optometric degree from the Illinois College of Optometry and completed a residency in ocular disease at SUNY College of Optometry. In 2024 she joined as a full-time attending at the Jesse Brown VAMC and holds an adjunct faculty position at the Illinois College of Optometry. Prior to joining the VA, she was an Associate Professor and served as the Director of Residency Programs at the Illinois College of Optometry.
Dr. McLeod is a fellow in the American Academy of Optometry and a past president of the Illinois Chapter of the American Academy of Optometry. She is board certified as a diplomate of the American Board of Optometry and a member of the National Association of Veterans Affairs Optometrists.
