Ocular Disease and Low Vision Rehabilitation
Dr. Brown has been working at the Jesse Brown VAMC since 2010. Immediately following her residency, she spent time volunteering with an ophthalmic pathologist at the University of Illinois Chicago and worked part-time at Jesse Brown VAMC performing Compensation and Pension eye examinations. She previously worked at an ophthalmology private practice that had an emphasis in refractive and cataract surgery and an optometric private practice, specifically managing the ocular disease patients. She was also a sub-investigator in a pre-market FDA clinical device study for treatment of presbyopia at two separate ophthalmology private practices.
She was hired as a full-time attending at the Jesse Brown VAMC eye clinic in 2014. She received her Fellowship in the American Academy of Optometry in 2010, holds an adjunct faculty appointment at the Illinois College of Optometry, is a member of the executive board of the American Academy of Optometry Glaucoma Section, and was previously on the fellowship admissions committee for the American Academy of Optometry. Her responsibilities at Jesse Brown include direct patient care, consultation with residents and students, organizing the Wednesday didactic lecture schedule, and reviewing the diabetic telehealth retinal images. Also, as of July 2020 Dr. Brown has assumed the role as Residency Coordinator.
