Dr. Johnson obtained her Doctorate of Optometry degree at the Illinois College of Optometry. She completed her residency in ocular disease and low vision at Jesse Brown VA and the Blind Rehabilitation Center at Hines VA. She worked at the Miami VA as a staff optometrist where she was the student coordinator and residency co-coordinator, with adjunct faculty appointments at NOVA Southeastern College of Optometry and UC Berkeley College of Optometry. She joined the staff at Jesse Brown VA as a full-time optometry attending and holds an adjunct faculty appointment at the Illinois College of Optometry. In addition to providing direct patient care, she consults with residents and students in a clinical setting.
Dr. Johnson also has working experience in group ophthalmology and multidisciplinary practices performing medical optometry exams. She attained her Fellowship in the American Academy of Optometry (AAO) in 2017. While at the VA, she has participated as a clinical investigator in multiple research projects.
